News in Finnish

At the heart of the Finnish News Agency (STT) is the high-quality and respected news service, which carries the most important news from Finland and abroad. Reporting it first is standard procedure.

STT operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, keeping a hand on the news pulse. A minimum of two reporters are always on call at the Helsinki editorial office.

STT's Finnish-language desk sends an average 300 items daily. STT employs about 110 journalists, most of them at the Helsinki office. STT has also eight regional bureaux. Additionally, a number of contributors are used.

STT has correspondents in Brussels, Stockholm, Moscow and Washington.

In international news we cooperate closely with a number of foreign news agencies. Links with Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Deutsche Presse Agentur (DPA), Nordic news agencies and Baltic News Service (BNS) are especially close.

It is possible to attach various alerts and preferences, based on various criteria, to the standard news service. News service material is sorted by category, region and keywork, for example.

For business clients and customers working in other organisations the easiest way to start using the STT news service is the internet portal, for which a client can be supplied with a username and password, on the basis of which the system recognises the user and can offer tailored services.

Several other means of delivery are possible as well. For media, news content is normally delivered directly to editorial systems in the technical formal required.

Material can be delivered by:

  • Category: domestic, international, business and economics, politics, sport, culture and entertainment
  • Keyword, such as "elections", "media" or "forest sector"
  • Geographical region (Finland, southern Ostrobothnia, EU, United States)
  • Open search term.
